Full Description
A Possible field boundaries which may be medieval or post medieval in date are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 on low lying land to the east of St Andrew's Hill, Brownsea Island. The earthworks consist of at least six possible small enclosures, measuring up to 16 m by 12 m, a square depression and short scattered boundaries. They are visible over an area measuring 306 m by 100 m. The function and date of the earthworks is unclear, but they may be agricultural in nature. (1) This site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
