A post medieval or early modern extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 to the east of Banks Road at the southern end of the neck of the Sandbanks peninsula. They pit measures 50 m by 40 m and may have been used for the extraction of clay or sand. (1) The site is now a car park. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
