Full Description
Second World War beach defences, consisting of beach scaffolding, are visible as structures on aerial photographs of 1941, on the eastern side of Studland Heath, extending along the beach from South Haven Point to the south along Studland Bay. They cover a distance of at least 2195 m and comprise a continuous line of scaffolding located at the high water mark, with four sections lying on the beach, perpendicular to the main line. The defences were plotted from all available photographs, but may continue further to the south. (1-2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
