A grooved object composed of a calcareous matrix contining occasional flint fragments and glauconitic grains was found on the south beach of Hengistbury Head about 400 metres east of the double dykes. There are traces of a brown resin on the grooved side. Mr P. Ensom suggests that the object is man-made and possibly cement. It is uncertain whether much importance should be attached to this object but it is published here since it will be in private ownership and because of the association with Hengistbury Head.
