Monument record MDO28608 - Second World War cable and structure Southbourne, Bournemouth

A Second World War military structure, probably with a coastal defence function, is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of the Promenade to the south of Southbourne Coast Road.

A Second World War military structure, probably with a coastal defence function, is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of the Promenade to the south of Southbourne Coast Road. The structure consists of two small buildings or structures located either side of a north west-south east oriented cable. A linear structure crosses the cable, lying perpendicular to it. (1) The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) An area of anti-tank blocks lies immediately to the north (see MDO28605) and a group of buildings are located immediately to the west (see MDO28607). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
