Full Description

A group of Second World War military buildings, probably with a coastal defence function, are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of the Promenade to the south of Southbourne Coast Road. The site consists of two long rectangular buildings located immediately adjacent to each other and a smaller rectangular building located immediately to the north. (1) The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) An area of anti-tank blocks lies immediately to the north (see MDO28605) and a cable and structure are located immediately to the east (see MDO28608). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
