Summary

A clay pit, probably part of a brickworks at the end of Middle Chine is known from historic map evidence. It was in use during the second half of the nineteenth century.

A clay pit marked as 'Old Clay Pit' is shown on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map Epoch 2 (1890). (2) It lies adjacent to a brickworks marked on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map Epoch 1 (1870). The clay pit is not marked on the epoch 1 map. (1)
