A gravel pit which probably was part of a brickworks at the end of Middle Chine is marked on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map Epoch 1 (1870). (1)
It is marked as an 'Old Gravel Pit' on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map Epoch 2 (1890). (2)
