Summary

A late nineteenth century coal yard, which becomes a Timber Yard at the beginning of the twentieth century, known from historic map evidence. Part of the cobbled surface of the coal yard was excavated by Poole Museum in 1975.

Full Description

A coal yard on east side of West Quay Road marked on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map dated 1888.(1)

By 1902 it has become a timber yard. (2) (3)

By 1933 it is no longer marked as a timber yard on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map. (4)

A cobbled surface, which formed part of the coal yard was excavated by Poole Museum in 1975. (5)
