Full Description

Several fragments from a pipe kiln muffle structure were recovered from within an eighteenth century layer during excavations at West Street, Poole in 1974. These were residual and suggest there may have been a clay pipe manufactory in the vicinity. Documentary evidence records a pipe maker in West Street in 1675. (1)
