Full Description
A small quantity of Mesolithic flint including a rod microlith and a broken bladelet were found in a small number of shallow features during an evaluation to the south of Shapwick Road, Hamworthy by Terrain Archaeology in 2003. The features were not fully investigated and had been truncated by later activity, but they appeared to comprise short linear features filled with very pale grey silty sand containing worked flint and some burnt flint. Not enough of these features was excavated to determine their function or the character of the mesolithic activity. (1)
A single bladelet of probable Mesolithic date was found during subsequent excavation by Thames Valley Archaeological Services. (2)
