Full Description
Longfleet Church Schools in Longfleet Road, opposite St. Mary’s Church, of one storey with walls of grey brick with some stone dressings and a slate covered roof, was built in 1839; the date is recorded on a plaque in the central gable facing the road.
The building is in the Gothic style with stepped buttresses at the corners and a bellcote above the original south east gable; the windows have mostly been enlarged. The plan formerly comprised a large schoolroom parallel to the street with a central wing at right angles to it in the south east; adjacent on the northwest is the Master’s House with windows with four-centred lights and labels. The school was later extended on both sides of the southeast wing.
