Summary

Infant School in Skinner Street, immediately northwest of the Congregational Chapel, is of one storey with walls of brick and a slate covered roof. It was built in 1833 as a Lancasterian Free School, possibly as an addition to a school built in 1813 nearby in Lagland Street and now rebuilt. Demolished after 1970.

Full Description

The Infant School faces the entrance courtyard on the west side of the chapel. The front is in five bays with a semicircular headed window in each of the three central bays and a panel above the parapet with the words INFANT SCHOOL in bold raised letters.
