Full Description

A ditch (Ditch 127) about 1.5 m wide with gently sloping sides and a slightly dished base 0.4 m deep was discovered in Trench 1 of an evaluation by Terrain Archaeology adjacent to Hamworthy Rectory. It was oriented roughly NW-SE, but was largely destroyed by early 19th century features. No datable artefacts were recovered from it. It lies roughly on the postulated line of the northern side of the Roman road, but there is no evidence to link this with the road.
