Full Description

Excavation on behalf of the Dorchester Excavation Committee in 1972 recorded a section through the counterscarp bank on the west side of the Roman town defences. This bank comprised clay and chalk and on the outer edge was a layer of Roman debris, possibly from the cleaning out of the ditches.
