Field system(strip lynchets9)"taken from air photographs. <1>

Lynchets on a south slope 1/4 - 1/2 miles West of the church, one extending for 240 and the other 270. The terraces vary from 3 to 18 in width. <2>

A fine series of Md strip lynchets. Long, parallel, closely set, pronounced and grass covered. - area A centred at [SY 51139628]
Area B centred at [SY 51359604] Grass & tree covered parallel strip lynchets. See AP. CPE/UK/2475/3165.

8 areas A-H [centred at:- SY 51809766 =A; SY 51849741 =B; SY 51159720 =C; SY 50809660 =D: SY 50909645 =E; SY 50959690 =F; SY 50759725 =G; SY 51079752 =H.]

The 8 areas contain grass covered Medieval type strip lynchets situated on the steep valley sides. All boundaries were supplied by field survey. Air photo cover was not available.

A&B. Mainly short and scrappy lynchets though generally fairly pronounced.
C,D&E. Three areas of long, parallel and well developed lynchets. Generally closely set.
F. A few widely spaced but pronounced lynchets.
G. Short but fairly pronounced and approximately parallel lynchets set fairly close together.
H. Short, well pronounced parallel lynchets. <3>

(This series of strip lynchets is centred approximately to SY 509 971) <4>

Remains of a Medieval field system comprising strip lynchets have been idenitifed on the steep valley sides. Strip lynchets centred at SY 51809766 and SY 51849741 are mainly short but generally fairly pronounced. Centred at SY 51159720, SY 50809660 and SY 50909645 are three areas of long, parallel and well developed lynchets, generally closely set. At SY 50959690 the lynchets are widely spaced but well pronounced. Short but fairly pronounced and approximately parallel lynchets, set fairly close together, are present at SY 50759725. The lynchets centred at SY 51079752 are short and well pronounced. <5>
