Monument record MDO27997 - Ditch, Quarry Covert, Melbury Abbas

Curvilinear ditch at the east end of Quarry Covert, Melbury Hill marked on the Ordnance Survey 25-inch maps. Of uncertain function and date.

This earthwork consists of a ditch or track 1.5m wide and 0.3m deep with a bank 2.0m wide and 0.2m high. There is no evidence of antiquity and the work has no defensive or boundary purpose. It appears to be a cattle track or a form of occupation track into the coppice and is probably of modern origin. <2>

No change since 25 1 56. <3>
