Summary

A bowl barrow, one of the Southover Heath Group of round barrows. In 1970 this monument was reported as being around 49 feet in diameter with a mound abut 6.5 feet high. This barrow is covered with trees and bracken, and a disused trackway has cut into it on the north-west side.

Full Description

Five tree or fern-covered round barrows on Southover Heath with no traces of ditch and mainly free from mutilation. 'C' - Bowl barrow, 16.0m diameter and 1.9m high. <1>

'C' - (12) - SY 77939286. Bowl barrow, 49ft diameter and 61/2ft high, covered with brcaken and trees. A trackway cuts into it on the north-west. Grinsell refers to this barrow as 16 paces in diameter x 5ft high. <2> <4>

'C' SY 77919285, as described. None of the barrows C - E has a visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <6>
