Summary

Mid eighteenth century farmhouse, with red brick walls in Flemish bond, with rusticated stone quoins and ashlar stone plinth. Slate roof with stone gable-copings, levelled, and with scrolled kneelers.

SY 59 SE KINGSTON RUSSELL HIGHER KINGSTON RUSSELL

1/122 Kingston Russell Farmhouse

Detached Farmhouse. Mid C18. Red Brick walls in Flemish bond,
with rusticated stone quoins and ashlar stone plinth. Dentil
brick cornice. Slate roof with stone gable-copings, levelled,
and with scrolled kneelers. Brick stacks at each gable end.
T-Plan house, with C20 wing added parallel to C18 rear wing,
on east side. South elevation: 2 storeys, 3 windows, tripartite
sashes with glazing-bars and crown glass. Gauged brick arches
with projecting white keystones. Stone cills. 3 C20 dormers have
2-light casements with glazing-bars. Front doorway at centre,
up 8 stone steps. Gibbs surround with brick and stone
alternating, into semi-circular head with projecting dropped
keystone, supporting a moulded cornice with stone pediment
over carried on 2 large volute brackets. Rubbed brick in the
spandrels. Rear service range in the same materials. 2 storeys.
3 windows, sashes with the same detailing. Doorway on west
side, with gauged brick head and projecting keystone. C20
plank door. Small gabled wing in north-west angle, C18 with a
rendered upper storey. Stone coping. Door is flush-panelled
and with 4 upper lights, keystone over. Early C20 east range,
brick walls and 3 gables with slate roofs. 2 storeys. 4 windows
2- and 3-light C20 casements. Front door at left ground. The
interior is not of special interest. (2)
