Full Description

A deer park, first recorded on a seventeenth century map when it was called 'Strangways Park'. In the late eighteenth century it was broken up and incorporated into the present field system. A map of 1785 shows the park with later annotation, circa 1800, indicating how it was to be sub-divided into fields. The park boundaries can be traced as ruined stone walls inside and covered by hedgerows, in a landscape of fields bounded by hedgerows.
