Full Description
<1> Royal Commission on Historic Monuments, 1970, An Inventory of Historical Monuments in the County of Dorset, Volume III (Central) Part 2, 159 (Monograph). SDO136.
‘Unless otherwise described the following monuments are two-storied and have walls of roughly coursed rubble, and tiled roofs; they are of the 18th century. … (44) Cottages, two adjacent (77431945), are of two dates; that to the W. is perhaps of the first half of the 18th century, that to the E. is of the 19th century. The W. tenement has a symmetrical S. front of two bays with a central doorway. Inside, the open fireplace at the E. end of the W. building has an oven to the N. and spiral stairs to the S. The rooms are divided by plank-and-muntin partitions and there may originally have been a throughpassage. The ceiling beams are stop-chamfered.’
