A Gravel Pit shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885. (1)

The gravel pit described above in (1) is visible as an earthwork on lidar imagery. The extractive area has been expanded from the extent shown on the 1st edition OS map and comprises at least six pits. The pits cover an area measuring approximately 385 m by 135 m. (2) This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
