An Old Chalk Pit shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885. (1)

Two other pits are located immediately to the north and all three were visible as earthworks on lidar imagery of 2010 to the south west of Affpuddle. The pits are located on the Portsdown Chalk Formation and measure between 30 m by 33 m and 57 m by 33 m. (1) The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
