Summary

Medieval strip lynchets to the south of Stavordale Wood. The features are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs and may be semi-natural in origin.

Full Description

Lynchets on the S slope, S of Stavordale Wood extend for about 600 yards, with terraces from 4 to 17 yards wide. <2>

A series of well pronounced strip lynchets, parallel and following the contours. Medieval type. Under pasture. See air photograph RAF CPE/UK/2431 4286. <4>
