Summary

Manor House in grounds. c.1600 east block with a north cross wing probable H plan intended by south cross wing never built. Early C17 addition in the angle at rear of house, and north cross wing extended to the west. C19 rebuilding in north west wing. 1934 house thoroughly restored and new roofs built, west wing extended further west.

Full Description

The building annotated Poxwell Farm on OS 6" is known by the name Poxwell House. <2>

Poxwell House, an ashlar and coursed rubble building of two storeys and attics built circa 1600 on a plan directly derived from a typical late medieval manor house. Addition and alterations were made in the ealy 17th, 18th and 19th centuries with complete restoration in 1934. Grade 1. In the centre of the eastern garden wall is a brick-built, hexagonal gatehouse of two-storeys dated 1634. <3>

Poxwell Manor (name confirmed) remains as described by RCHM. The house is well-preserved but divided into tenements. <5>
