Full Description
(Area ST 378058) A hoard of 95 clipped and mutilated shillings and sixpences of Elizabeth, Charles I, James I, Edward VI, Mary and Charles II was found in digging up the roots of oak trees during the making of the south west Railway from Bridport to Chard opposite Beere Farm. The trees were situated beside a cottage which was demolished to allow the turnpike road to be diverted. (1)
