A depression noted during archaeological observations during groundworks for the Buckland Newton Sewage Scheme in 1995-6. Said by local residents to be a quarry and to have been in use as recently as the 1950s, producing stone for local, mainly farm, use.

‘In field 1, a depression north of the easement was noted, see fig. 1. Oral testimony stated this to be a quarry, in use as recently as the 1950s. Fossilised oyster shells, similar to those found in layer 5, were stated to have been recovered from the quarry, as well as stone for local, mainly farm, use.’
