‘Externally this dovecote is circular, internally it is octagonal. It is built with rubblestone walls with a conical slate roof. The door jambs are of stone with a wooden lintel and a plank stable-door. The interior is lined with 500 nest boxes on all eight walls, starting 3m from the floor. The next boxes are mode of a wooden plank shelf on which bricks and stone have been added as infill to make up the boxes.’
