Summary

A medieval deer park known from an historic document to have existed in 1356. The park pale can be seen as a bank and ditch for much of its length, and it encloses an area of over 160 acres.

Full Description

(SY 439 942. Deer park sited from auth 2 and OS 10560 1968) Symondsbury deer park is only mentioned in an Inquisition Post Mortem of 1356 on Richard Osmyngton. Much of the bank and ditch are traceable. On the North side the bank is 25 feet wide and 5 feet high, while on the West it is 10-15 feet wide and 4-5 feet high. The enclosed area exceeds 160 acres. <1-2>
