Full Description

ST 64330091. A flinty mound underlying the modern hedge so that the mound is elongated in an east-west direction. Diameter east-west 10.0m, north-south 6.0m and height 0.5m. There is no visible ditch. Possibly a bowl barrow. <1> <2>

The hedge has been grubbed out and the area ploughed. The former mound is now represented by a concentration of large flints, approximately 8.0m diameter, apparently the remains of a barrow. <3>

A sub-circular mound, possibly crossed by a modern field boundary on its north side, is visible as a low earthwork on a 1947 aerial photograph and may be this feature <4>. The mound is approximately 13.5m in diameter. The historic hedgeline in 1947 appears to respect the mound - this boundary has subsequently been altered and may now cross it, but the feature is no longer evident on Google Earth imagery so this is not certain.

The feature was digitally plotted from this source during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
