Summary

A bowl barrow. In 1952 this monument was reported as being around 42 feet in diameter with a mound about four feet high. The barrow is visible as a sub-circular earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

A bowl barrow, 20 paces in diameter and 5 feet high; higher at the east where the ground slopes steeply. <1> <3>

A grass covered bowl barrow on the edge of an east-facing slope. It is 20.0m in diameter, 2.0m high on the east and 1.0m high on the west. There is a slight depression in the top; no visible ditch. <2>

No change from field report of 13 5 55. Surveyed at 1:2500. <5>

Site observed 7 June 1983 LJK/MS. Under pasture. Condition unchanged. <6>

A bowl barrow. In 1952 this monument was reported as being around 42 feet in diameter with a mound about four feet high. The barrow is visible as a sub-circular earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project <7>. The feature comprises a low mound approximately 10.3m in diameter. It is still visible on current Google Earth imagery.
