Summary

An orchard shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1900. It is also shown on the OS Epoch 1 map of c1880s. The orchard occupies two historic plots that probably originated from medieval strip fields. Rows of mounds which might be tree bowls are visible as earthworks within the orchard plots on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

An orchard shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1900. It is also shown on the OS Epoch 1 map of c1880s (OS c1880). The orchard occupies two historic plots that probably originated from medieval strip fields. Rows of mounds which might be tree bowls are visible as earthworks within the orchard plots on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
