Full Description
A chalk pit shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1886 (OS 1886). The feature is visible as scarped and ditched earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). It is approximately 85m wide by 33m deep with a deep hollow scarped linear trackway leading off the south side to meet a trackway to the south, which winds around the chalk pit on its east side. A second smaller possible chalk pit is located around 70m along the trackway to the west (MDO49684). The feature was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
