Old Gravel Pits shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1886. A loose grouping of five pits are visible as ditched earthworks in a field to the southwest of Shillingstone Hill on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features were digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
