Listed Building record MDO26011 - The Cobbles, Blandford Road, Shillingstone

Late seventeenth century house with additions of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, with walls of brick, brick and flint and render. Thatched roof to earlier range, slated roof to later. Brick stacks at ends and intersections of ranges.

A house thought to have been built in the late 17th century, but refaced in brick in the 18th century, and with 19th-century additions. The building has walls of brick and flint, and a thatched roof. Surviving interior features in the original part of the building are reported to include chamfered ceiling beams and wall-plates. <1>

‘(6) COTTAGE (82751087), 100 yds. W. of the foregoing, is two-storied, with brick and flint walls and a thatched roof. It is probably of late 17th-century origin but the S.E. front was refaced in brickwork late in the 18th century, and additions to the N.E. and S.W. were made in the 19th century. Inside, the N.E. room of the original range has a ceiling with two intersecting chamfered beams and chamfered wall-plates. The end of one beam rests on a chamfered post with splayed stops.’
