‘SYDLING ST NICHOLAS TITHE BARN. A survey was carried out in April 1992 by Oxford Archaeological Unit for Dorset County Council and English Heritage on the roof and walls of the late medieval barn (RCHM West Dorset 233). It was found that the aisled barn was probably a 16th-century replacement of an earlier roof of cruck construction, for which wall sockets were found inside the buttresses. Copies of the photographs and measured survey have been deposited in the county site and monuments record.’
