Full Description

A World War II anti-tank ditch located behind Burton Road, Chesil Beach running ESE from Castle Beach Cottage and visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 {1-2}. It forms part of a longer interrupted feature which runs from Castle Hill Cottages to the antitank trap at Reeds End (MWX1315). It was situated within the Abbotsbury Defence which was defended by the 6th Battalion Durham Light Infantry. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
