Full Description

A silver hammered penny of Edward III. The finder has described the coin as being minted in York as it has a quatrefoil in the centre of the cross on the reverse with a pellet in the centre. Coins minted in York are normally inscribed with CIVITAS EBORACI on the reverse, how much of this inscription remains is unknown. The obverse description and inscription have not been noted. This coin has not been seen by the HER or PAS.
Found and recovered by the Stour Valley Search and Recovery Club.
