Full Description

The remains parallel field banks running E-W, considered likely to be the remains of medieval strip fields, are visible on aerial photographs <1>. The site was digitally plotted for the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

(SY 65948605) Two strip lynchets and fragments of a third, up to 2.0m. high, follow the contours. <2>

SY 652858 to SY 659860. Strip lynchets of contour type, almost destroyed, covered about 35 acres divided between West and
East fields on Tithe Map 1840. <3>

Contour-following strip lynchets, one conspicuous and two rather faint, are visible in the western half of the field centred at SY 65958605. Elsewhere on this side of the valley the lynchets appear to have been destroyed. <4>
