SY 693916. In 1799 five probable Roman inhumations with feet to the east were unearthed in Pond Close, Frome Whitfield; the skeletons lay side by side in contiguous stone cists. <1>

Inhumation Burials, probably Roman, have been found in the parish at various times. In 1779 five inhumations with the feet to the E. were unearthed in Pond Close, Frome Whitfield (693916); the skeletons lay side by side in contiguous stone cists (Hutchins II, 793)'.
