Summary

A mound is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs. It is recorded as a tumulus on the modern OS map and is considered likely to be the site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow.

Full Description

Group of round barrows: … `F` Doubtful pond barrow 36 feet diameter by 1/2 foot deep, with outer bank 11 feet across by 1/2 foot high. More likely to be a hut platform associated with a nearby settlement. <3>

`F` SY 61618904. Circular depression of diameter 14.0m. and depth 0.7m. with 4.0m. wide bank downhill side. As indicated by RCHM, it is probably a hut-platform associated with the overlying settlement. `B`, `D` and `F` re-surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. Detail of `A` deleted from MSD. <4>

A mound is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <5-6>, measuring approximately 9.5 metres in diameter. It is recorded as a tumulus on the modern OS map and is considered likely to be the site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
