Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow, one of a pair adjacent to one another. Recorded by field investigators as an extant mound. Also visible as an earthwork mound on aerial photos.

Full Description

Site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow, one of two adjacent to one another (MDO3137 & MDO24649) and part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.

Double bowl barrow, mounds respectively are 25ft and 40ft. in diam and 2.5ft. and 3.5ft. high, are joined by a slight bank 1ft. High {1-2}.

Double bowl barrow, by a low ridge. Western mound 8.0m. diameter and 1.0m.high, eastern mound 13.0m. diameter and 1.0m. high . No visible ditch {3}.

Also visible as an earthwork mound on aerial photographs {4-8}, measuring approximately 6.6 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
