Full Description
Grinsell recorded this barrow as 36 paces in diameter and 10 feet in height, and noted that it was uncertain whether it was originally a bowl- or bell-barrow. <2>
Round barrows on Ridgeway Hill: 'A'. Ditched bowl (66368658). Diam. 96 ft., ht. 12 ft., probably with original chalk capping. Ploughed. <4>
A SY 66368658. Bowl barrow, diameter 37.0m. Height 3.5m. All these barrows are in arable and have been ploughed. None has a visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. <5>
Visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs <8>. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
