Summary

A church builtin the thirteenth century with later additions and alterations. The building has walls of rubble stone and ashlar, with stone dressings. The 13th-century west porch was largely rebuilt in the fifteenth century, and other changes made at this time include a crossing tower, the insertion of a window in each wall of the nave, and buttresses on the outside. There is the remains of a water stoup in the porch.

Full Description

The church of Saint Mary at South Perrott is a magnificent cruciform structure of the 13th century. The west porch was added at the end of the 13th century, and the tower was rebuilt In the 15th century when the transepts were heightened. A south chapel was added in the early 16th century.

The chancel and the south chapel were rebuilt in 1907-13. (2-4)
