Summary

Evidence for a mill on the lower part of the Combe Brook, close to what is now Digby Road, was revealed during a desk top study in 1997 in advance of the development of the South Street/ Ludbourne road site. A mill called Forrester’s Mill is marked on the 1802 copy of a 1733 town survey.

Full Description

Lindsey Archaeological Services conducted an archaeological desk based assessment of land at South Street/ Ludbourne Road, Sherborne during 1997 in advance of re-development of the site as Sainsbury’s Supermarket.

A mill called Forrester’s Mill is marked on the 1802 copy of a 1733 town survey on the lower part of the Combe Brook, close to what is now Digby Road [1].
