A scatter of chalk pits of probable post medieval origin, visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs {1-3} to either side of Longland's Lane. The features were digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project. One is marked as 'Old Chalk Pit' on the OS 1st Edition Map.
