Full Description

(ST 344028) A ruined building, suggested by DOE (1) to represent the medieval chapel of ease of Holditch, is situated 10 yards SSW of Manor Farm, Holditch. It is roofless and much overgrown and most of the dressed stone has been removed, but part of the east window and most of the walling survive (Grade II*).

According to Lysons (2) 'considerable remains of the old mansion and the chapel' existed in 1773 on the site of the barton of Holditch, and traces could still be seen circa 1822 when the site was occupied by a farmhouse.

The present Manor Farm is early 17th century, retaining some original stone-mullioned windows with labels. (Grade II).

Remains of a chapel at Manor Farmhouse, probably C15th. The middle stone walls with stone quoins stand to a maximum heigth of 10 feet in the chancel. The nave is wider in plan then the chancel. Grade II. (3)
