Full Description
The clay pit is visible as shallow earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs (2).
The feature comprises two irregular shallow depressions already partially developed as housing land by 1946 (2). The southernmost feature is an elongated u-shaped depression 48.7m long by 21m wide, with a modern house constrcuted at its northeast end. The northernmost feature is an irregular depression 70.7m long and up to 32m deep. The feature is recorded as 'Old clay pit' on the OS 1st Edition map (1).
The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
