Monument record MDO23472 - Old Gravel Pit, Cobbs Road, Colehill

'Old Gravel Pit' marked on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885, not shown on subsequent maps. The tree-lined outline of the gravel pit is visible as a shallow depression at this location on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

The feature comprises an elongated irregular depression 67m long by up to 30m wide and bounded by a road on its west side (shown as a trackway on the OS 1st Edition map (1)). The outline is shown lined by trees.

The site is a school and grounds on current Google Earth imagery and the feature is no longer visible. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
