Summary

An old quarry is shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1864, partially disappeared by 1938. A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of this location at Wyke Regis, Weymouth. It is considered likely to be the partial remains of the post medieval quarry described above. A similar feature is located just to the east (MDO29826) and may be contemporary with it.

Full Description

An old quarry shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1864, partially disappeared by 1938 (1).

A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of this location at Wyke Regis, Weymouth (2). It is considered likely to be the partial remains of the post medieval quarry described above. A similar feature is located just to the east (MDO29826) and may be contemporary with it. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
